De Sony F5 is het kleinere broertje van De F55, en bevat een Super 35 CMOS sensor waarmee de camera intern tot 2K resolutie op kan nemen, tot een framerate van 180 beelden. In tegenstelling tot de F55 heeft de F5 geen global shutter. Qua sensorstructuur lijkt de F5 echter meer op de Sony F3.
